About Me

I am a Fullstack Software Engineer with a background in community development and engagement, and communications.

The skills I picked up along the way have allowed me to work in a variety of industries including the life sciences, flavour and fragrances, non-government organisations and charity sectors. One constant throughout has been my love for using code to provide business solutions, usually in the form of an Excel macro or hacked together VBA code.

The hunt for a deeper understanding of the tools I used everyday led me down the coding rabbit-hole that started with building my own WordPress themes and plugins and ended on a three month immersive Software Engineering Course with General Assembly.

Now equipped with the skills and knowledge of a full stack software engineer, I am looking to join a team that can harness my passion for coding and grow my creative problem-solving skills. I cut my coding teeth on the MERN stack, but like any good craftsman I’m always looking to expand my toolset.

My Interests

Grassroots Campaigner

Football has always been a passion of mine from the streets as a kid to the hallowed turf of the Enfield Playing Fields! However what I didn’t appreciate was just how much it could be used as a force for good particularly in relation to youth engagement.

Like many communities mine has a real problem with youth violence and through the establishment of a BAME coaches collective; 4th Quadrant Coaching I hoped to make a difference in my community.

For over a decade we have delivered youth mentoring programmes via volunteer community schemes for inner city youths, including a grant from the London Mayors fund for our life coaching, life mentoring, through football programme.

I’ve always fancied myself as something of a dab hand in the kitchen so the advent of the YouTube tutorial has pretty much been the gift that keeps on giving for me. My real passion at the moment is Caribbean and African fusion style cuisine and as you can imagine living in a city as cosmopolitan as London other influences such as Oriental and Arabic are starting to seep into my recipe lists.

The real pleasure I get though isn't just in the cooking of the food, but in the blending of different cultures. Before preparing a dish I like to do a bit of research into the ingredients and see how they came to be used by the various cultures that cook with them.
